HUBZone
CertificationsDefinition
Historically Underutilized Business Zone certification for small businesses located in designated economically distressed areas.
More Information
HUBZone certification is an SBA program that helps small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal contracting opportunities. To qualify, a business must be small, owned by U.S. citizens, have its principal office in a HUBZone, and have at least 35% of its employees living in a HUBZone.
Example
A manufacturing company located in a rural HUBZone area with most employees from the same community can obtain HUBZone certification for competitive and sole-source federal contracts.
