RFQ

Request for Quotation

Procurement

Definition

A solicitation used when the government intends to award based primarily on price.

More Information

RFQs are typically used for simpler purchases where specifications are clear and price is the primary evaluation factor. Responses are usually shorter than RFP responses. RFQs are common for commercial items, simple services, and purchases under simplified acquisition thresholds.

Example

A company submits a quote in response to an RFQ for office furniture with specified quantities and delivery location.
