About WBENC

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is the largest
third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the United States.
WBENC partners with 14 Regional Partner Organizations to provide national certification.

Eligibility Requirements

Ownership Requirement 51% owned, operated and controlled by one or more women

Business must be at least 51% owned by one or more women who are
U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens, and the management and daily operations must be
controlled by one or more women owners.

History

Founded in 1997, WBENC was created to provide a national certification standard
for women-owned businesses and to connect them with corporate members seeking to diversify
their supply chains.
