Standard Industrial Classification (SIC)
A legacy 4-digit classification system for industries that has been largely replaced by NAICS codes.
How Standard Industrial Classification works in supplier diversity
SIC codes were the standard industry classification system until NAICS was adopted in 1997. Some databases, reports, and older systems still reference SIC codes. Each SIC code corresponds to one or more NAICS codes.
