WOSB

Women-Owned Small Business

Certifications

Definition

A federal certification for small businesses that are at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more women.

More Information

WOSB certification is an SBA program that provides access to federal set-aside contracts in industries where women-owned businesses are underrepresented. Unlike WBE (issued by WBENC), WOSB is specifically for federal contracting and must be certified through the SBA or an approved third-party certifier.

Example

A cybersecurity firm majority-owned by women can obtain WOSB certification to compete for federal set-aside contracts in the IT sector.
